Aftercooler install

The purpose of this is not to duplicate posts that have already provided good images of their install. The goal is to show my experience and add a few additional pics for reference.

I decided some time back to go down the path of the Jackson Racing Super Charger after seeing how much it would be to stay NA and make power in the 250+ range. For less money I could get the JRSC and get more power. I decided that if I went down this path I would put together the most reliable package I could upfront. There were a few things I could do to make sure I had the most reliable setup possible.

After much reading I found that the main issue that superchargers had was belt related. With this I tried to find if there was an acceptable solution that I could live with. There are many options like electronic power steering (eps), run lower boost levels to keep belt slip down, the Comptech Auto Tensioner (ctat), and some custom solutions. I didn’t go down the eps route due to the fact that it hasn’t been successfully done on a 05-06 rsx although it has been attempted. The only viable solution for me was the CTAT. The ctat is not without issue as well though. Several members have had their tensioners break on them. After reading some threads I found that a fellow member Brando420 had this experience and decided to do something about it. He did this by making a beefed up tensioner and a few more to help out the rest of us. I quickly bought one and WOW what a nice piece it is.

Now that I felt like I had resolved the belt slip issue I decided to move on to the blower itself. I originally decided to run 9-11 psi so research I did. After that research I found that 9 psi was the perfect place to be for reliability and good power. I had read that 11psi was nice but was at the limits of the JRSC. What I mean is that unless you start cooling the incoming air that is going to be compressed then you really will not make more whp but you will make better tq. So again I started doing some research to see if there was a solution. WDSonny started a thread about his aftercooler project and I eagerly followed it as it was and still is the ONLY aftercooler out there for our cars. All of the sudden running 11psi reliably and maybe more psi was possible. I purchased the kit and felt good that this would be a welcome addition to my build. I wasn’t disappointed.

While waiting for my JRSC, aftercooler, and CTAT I prepped my car for the new power to come. I decided I needed full motor mounts to keep things from moving around to much. I went with the 60a innovative mounts to get that solid mount as well as relatively low vibrations for having mounts. I went with the Injen CAI, Buddy Club race header (I kick myself I really should have gotten a SSR header which I am working on getting now), Comptech 2.5 cat back exhaust and of course K-Pro. In addition I went with the RC 650 injectors as they seemed to be the perfect size and spray pattern. Since I was searching for 290-300 whp if possible I felt the 650s would be enough. I also went with a 2 bar map sensor to read boost levels above 10 psi. I went with the 2 bar because I knew I would not see boost levels greater than 14 since I plan on running 11psi and maybe in the future 13psi if I get curious.
